International Council of Museums - Ireland

Aidan led the re-vitalisation of ICOM-Ireland some years back, separating it from the Irish Museums Association. He also chaired it on two occasions and also chaired its sister body, ICOM-UK. He now attends Board meetings of ICOM-Ireland in Dublin.

Ulster Local History Trust

Aidan was in Armagh last week to attend a meeting of the Board of the Ulster Local History Trust. Aidan was a founder-trustee of the Trust in 1981. Seamus Heaney is patron of the Trust which supports local history research and publication. See www.ulht.org.uk

Kilmurry Museum, County Cork

Recently completed Feasibility Study and Development Plan for Kilmurry Historical & Archaeological Society. The study researched and proposed ideas for a new museum and community facility. Business and Marketing Plans were also prepared. The work was supported by grant from West Cork Development Partnership.

Appointments

Aidan Walsh has been re-appointed by the Heritage Council as an assessor for the Museums Standards Programme for Ireland. He has also been re-appointed to the MSPI Training Panel and to the Council's new MSPI Participant Advisor Panel.

Aidan Walsh is an appointed trainer and assessor for the Heritage Council of Ireland.

He is also a designated Expert Advisor for the UK Heritage Lottery Fund.
